Hi, I’m Olivia Cheesman, the photographer behind Olivia Kay Photography, based in the Texas Hill Country.
When I’m not behind the camera, I work at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls, where I spend my days in the middle of music, people, and meaningful moments. Somewhere along the way, I realized I loved capturing those moments just as much as being part of them—and that’s what pulled me into portrait photography.
I’m also a mom of 2 kids, a wiggly toddler and "too cool" teenager, so I completely understand that real life is not perfectly posed. Most people don’t show up to a session feeling “camera-ready,” and you don’t have to. My job is to help you feel comfortable, give you direction when you need it, and create space for the in-between moments that feel like you.
My approach
My approach is calm, flexible, and collaborative. I’ll give you enough direction so you don’t feel awkward or lost, but I also love when clients bring ideas, inspiration, or poses they’re excited about. That creative back-and-forth is where sessions really come to life.
I have my own editing style and preferred ways of posing, but I see each session as a shared process. Kids can move, adults can ease in, and real life is always welcome. Sessions are unhurried and low-pressure, with space to settle in, try ideas, and capture the moments that feel natural and true to you.
